The new synthetic drug Fentanyl is 20 to 100 times stronger than heroin. In the US, ten people have died from overdosing on this drug in just 12 days, nine of whom were in Sacramento, reports the Patria News Agency.
Fentanyl is sold as a gray-green pill with the main chemical ingredient – fentanyl, which is otherwise used to relieve severe pain, especially in cancer patients. Just one pill of this synthetic drug can lead to kidney and liver failure and brain swelling, warns the DEA, the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
Dealers often sell Fentanyl to customers as heroin, which is why the number of overdose deaths is rapidly increasing, writes Index.
