Budget Adoption Still Uncertain, Election Postponement Closer!

(Patria) - The Collegium Committee's report on efforts to reach an agreement on the Bill on the Budget of Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and International Obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2020 is one of the two items on the agenda of the House of Representatives of the PSBiH session tomorrow.

Whether there will be a budget and local elections this year should become clearer after this emergency session, which will also provide an answer as to whether the agreement of the party leaders from East Sarajevo will be honored. There are still no official positions from SNSD and HDZ, who rejected the budget in the first reading, on whether they have changed their minds.

At that time, they agreed on the adoption of the budget of Bosnia and Herzegovina under an expedited procedure by July 21, which was subsequently not supported. Meanwhile, opposition parties are calling everything a "so-called festival of democracy." They are announcing unified opposition protests.

Due to the failure to adopt the budget and the questioning of holding local elections, the opposition Social Democratic Party, Independent Bloc, Our Party, People and Justice, Platform for Progress, and Croatian Party of BiH have decided to proceed with unified protests and expect the budget to be adopted tomorrow. They are constantly in contact and holding online meetings to have a unified stance on these issues.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has again written to the competent authorities in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. They pointed out that the necessary funds for conducting the elections have not been secured even 66 days after the announcement of the 2020 local elections.
