Houthis rocketed the airport in Tel Aviv, major airlines suspend flights

(Patria) - British airline British Airways announced today that it is suspending flights to and from Tel Aviv until May 7, after a rocket attack on Ben Gurion International Airport carried out by Yemeni Houthi rebels.

"The safety of our passengers and crew is always our priority. We are constantly monitoring operational conditions and have decided to suspend all flights to and from Tel Aviv until May 7," British Airways said in a statement sent to AFP.

This announcement followed similar announcements by Lufthansa and Air India, which announced a suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv until May 6 a little earlier.

A rocket launched from Yemen towards Israel fell near Ben Gurion Airport, the country's main international airport, this morning. The Israeli military announced that it is investigating the fall of a projectile launched from Yemen.

A Reuters reporter at the airport heard sirens and saw passengers running to shelters.

Several people at the airport posted videos taken with smartphones showing a cloud of black smoke clearly visible nearby, behind parked planes and airport buildings.

Israeli emergency services stated that there were no reports of serious injuries. A man and a woman with minor injuries were transported to the hospital, and two people received assistance at the scene due to panic.

The airport authority announced that the projectile fell near the terminal parking lot. Yemeni Houthi rebels have been firing projectiles at Israel in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
