(Patria) - Yemeni Houthis are ready to continue attacks on Israel if it resumes attacks on the Gaza Strip and does not respect the ceasefire agreement, the leader of the pro-Iranian group Abdul-Malik al-Houthi announced yesterday.
The Houthis have been attacking Israel and vessels in the Red Sea, thus disrupting global trade. They claimed to be doing so in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza during the Israeli offensive on the enclave.
- Our fingers are on the trigger, and we are immediately ready for escalation against the Israeli enemy if it returns to escalation in the Gaza Strip - said Al-Houthi.
The ceasefire agreement in Gaza appears threatened after Hamas announced it would cease releasing Israeli hostages according to the plan, claiming Israel is violating parts of the agreement.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz responded by ordering the army to be on high alert.
The Houthis, part of an anti-Israeli and anti-Western regional alliance known as the "axis of resistance," have previously attacked Israeli territory with missiles.
