Houthis report attacks on US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman

(Patria) - The Houthis, the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement, carried out a drone attack on the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea, said the movement's military spokesman Yahya Saree, TASS reported.

"In response to the continuous daily American aggression against our country, the air and naval forces carried out a joint operation against enemy warships,
led by the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman. They were attacked in the northern part of the Red Sea with several drones," he said during a broadcast aired by Al Masirah television.

He said that the Houthis are ready to "retaliate against American escalation" and that "military operations in the
Red Sea and the Arabian Sea will continue until the aggression against Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted."

Following the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip in 2023, the Houthis warned that they would launch attacks on Israeli territory, while simultaneously prohibiting ships associated with the Jewish state from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until Tel Aviv stops its military operation against the Palestinian group Hamas in the endangered enclave. The Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

On March 15, the United States of America, by direct order of President Donald Trump, attacked Houthi targets controlling about a third of Yemen's territory. According to the U.S. Central Command, the goal of the operation is to protect American interests and ensure freedom of navigation.
