Hurtić calls on RS MoI to urgently shed light on attack on Memiševićs, Đurević claims Bosniaks are welcome in Višegrad

(Patria) - After Bojan Prodan from Višegrad, suspected of attacking the elderly married couple Fadil and Ajša Memišević from the village of Omeragići near Višegrad, was released, Sevlid Hurtić, Minister of Human Rights and Refugees, also addressed the public, stating that there is a lot of unclear information about the suspect and that the perpetrator must be brought to justice.

Hurtić began by calling on the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska and the competent prosecutor's office to take this problem seriously.

"They must understand that people living on their land, regardless of their nationality, must have the offender brought to justice, and that this case will be concluded with him, God willing, spending a long time behind bars. If he is the person they are talking about, the information I received is a bit contradictory, which is that he finished driver's training a few days ago, passed the medical exam, and now someone is claiming he has epilepsy and is taking medication, and that he even failed the polygraph. Once again, I ask the Prosecutor's Office to see this case through to the end so that people in all parts of BiH can live normally and deal with their problems," said Hurtić.

Mladen Đurević, Mayor of Višegrad Municipality, said that Bosniaks in this area do not have such problems and that this is an exception.

"I repeat, in this case, I am not questioning the national basis. The Vice-President of the Višegrad Assembly is from the Bosniak community, we are in daily communication, I am a surveyor by profession, so I have visited all these villages and I know all these people personally. There are no problems here in our municipality, and I really wouldn't generalize this. This is a unique case, and I believe it will not happen again in the future. Bosniaks are always welcome in Višegrad, they live on their properties. We call on the authorities to resolve this case and bring those who committed it to justice," stated Đurević.

He called for peace, tolerance, and normal coexistence.

"A Bosniak holiday is also underway, which we should celebrate together in peace above all, and everything else will be as it has been so far," Đurević said.

Prodan is suspected of breaking into the home of Fadil and Ajša Memišević, inflicting severe bodily injuries that required them to be hospitalized at the Sarajevo Clinical Center, and stealing their savings of 7,000 KM.

He is known to the police for a series of criminal offenses, including robbery, which resulted in a fatality.

The Foča Police Station clarified for N1 that Prodan was released after spending 24 hours in custody as prescribed by law, because the competent prosecutor's office did not request his detention or custody.

"He remains our main suspect. Our measures and actions are still being carried out against him, certain evidence we have will be subject to expert examination, and all measures within our jurisdiction will continue to be taken in the future," said Svetlana Govedarica, spokesperson for the Foča Police Department, for N1.
