Humanitarian aid still arriving too slowly in Gaza Strip

(Patria) - More than 37,000 tons of UN aid have entered the Gaza Strip since the start of the ceasefire on October 10, according to United Nations data.

- The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) points out that, despite significant progress in scaling up humanitarian operations, the population's urgent needs remain enormous, and obstacles are not being removed quickly enough since the ceasefire - stated UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq.

According to him, from the ceasefire until Monday, the UN and its partners collected more than 37,000 tons of aid, mostly food, at the border crossings in Gaza.

However, Haq noted that this does not include bilateral or commercial sector aid.

- Entry remains limited to only two crossings, with no direct access between Israel and northern Gaza, or between Egypt and southern Gaza. And some supplies and NGO staff are still unable to enter - Haq explained.

These 37,000 tons are still far from the 190,000 tons of humanitarian aid (food, medicine) that the UN pre-positioned outside Gaza to implement a 60-day plan, starting from the beginning of the ceasefire, to help the population of the territory devastated by a two-year war caused by Hamas's attack on Israeli territory on October 7.
