An exhibition of portraits of current and some former representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, created by academic painter Samir Hažbić, was opened today at the premises of the "Slikar" association in Sarajevo, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
Before the opening, a short press conference was held, attended by the Secretary General of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (NS/FS BiH) Jasmin Baković and academic painter Adin Hebib.
- The exhibition is of a humanitarian nature, and the goal is to raise funds through the sale of portraits to be directed towards the construction of a parental house in Sarajevo for the accommodation of parents whose children are suffering from cancer. We thank our friend, painter Adin Hebib, and the author of these portraits himself; we entered this project together, and it is a beautiful example of how social responsibility can be demonstrated in action - said, among other things, the Secretary General of NS/FS BiH, Jasmin Baković.
Hebib thanked the Football Association and congratulated them on their great successes so far, both in terms of results and finances.
- My colleague Samir Hažbić is an outstanding portraitist, and during last year's floods, we came up with the idea to create these portraits and feature footballers because they have most prominently carried the name of Bosnia and Herzegovina and are our best ambassadors in the world. It is not easy to draw 52 portraits; perhaps someone is missing, but what is more important is that no one is superfluous, and they are all stones that make up a house like NS/FS BiH.
We decided on this project because it concerns children, and they are the most important to us. We have already been contacted by individuals interested in buying portraits, and we believe that footballers will also be interested in buying their own portraits. The starting price is around 1,000 KM or 500 euros - said Hebib.
Portraits of BiH national team players can be viewed at the "Slikar" club gallery, Čekaluša street no. 10, in Sarajevo, from May 27 to June 17, 2015, between 12 PM and 7 PM.
