Two humanitarian workers, Swiss nationals Marija and Tobias Verle, who were held captive and tortured by aggressors near Sarajevo for six months during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, have arrived in The Hague to attend the sentencing of Radovan Karadžić, reports Sead Omeragić, a reporter for the Bosnian news agency Patria from The Hague.
Tobias and Marija traveled by car from Switzerland and, as they say, want to personally see Karadžić's face when he is handed a long prison sentence.
The first president of the Republika Srpska, who threatened Muslims with disappearance, is charged by the indictment with genocide and persecution in Bosnian-Herzegovinian municipalities in 1992, terror against Sarajevo civilians (1992-1995), genocide in Srebrenica in 1995, and taking United Nations international observers hostage.
The verdict will be delivered by a Chamber presided over by South Korean Judge O-Gon Kwon, with members Judge Howard Morrison from the United Kingdom and Judge Melville Baird from Trinidad and Tobago.
Incidentally, numerous journalists, historians, witnesses, survivors, and families of victims have been arriving in The Hague for days to attend the sentencing.
