ZAGREB, (Patria) - Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović said last night after the solemn oath of the 14th generation of cadets of the "Josip Jović" Police Academy that the Croatian police are the guarantor of the protection of the Croatian border, as well as that there will be no new migrant waves at it.
"If there were no Croatian police, if there were no decisive work on protecting the Croatian border, there would certainly be waves. However, the work of the Croatian police, of all branches of the police, because it is a multidisciplinary task performed not only by border police but also by criminal, special, and intervention police - is a guarantee not only for the protection of Croatian borders but also that waves of migrants will not occur," Božinović said when asked if Croatia is ready for a potential new migrant wave, HRT reported.
Numerous domestic and international organizations have previously accused the Croatian police of brutality towards migrants and refugees.
The Croatian police are also facing accusations of deporting migrants from Croatia to BiH, even though it has been determined for many of them that they did not enter Croatia from BiH, writes NAP.
