Croatia: Lied about being wounded on the battlefield in BiH and received over 50,000 KM in disability pension

The Municipal State Attorney's Office in Slavonski Brod filed an indictment against a 60-year-old man who is accused of submitting a request to the competent institute in Slavonski Brod on July 12, 2006, to have his right to a disability pension recognized, reports the Patria News Agency.

He invoked the agreement between Croatia and BiH regulating the rights of war victims, members of the HVO in BiH.

In his request, the man falsely stated that he was wounded in a grenade explosion on the battlefield in BiH, while in fact, he sustained stomach and left thigh injuries on May 20, 1993, in a physical altercation with another person in Croatia.

Based on the false request, from 2008 to September 30, 2015, he was paid 212,530 kuna (more than 50,000 KM) in disability pension to which he was not entitled, writes Index.
