Food is getting more expensive, and farmers face a difficult situation heading into autumn sowing

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ahead of the autumn sowing, farmers in Semberija expressed concern about the current situation.

As they point out, due to high costs, it is questionable how many areas will be sown, and the drought has destroyed the corn crop, raising questions about sufficient quantities of feed for livestock.

Whoever has livestock and fields must sow, says farmer Petar Dragojlović from the Semberija village of Amajlije.

Autumn sowing is imminent, and there is not enough money for either seed wheat or fertilization.

It comes out somewhere around 60-70 marks per decare, for seeds and fertilizer. Let me tell you, I will do it, I am forced to. If we don't do agriculture, we are completely dead, we have to give our best to, say, get back what we invest normally – says Dragojlović.
According to data from the relevant department, autumn sowing in Semberija is planned on slightly smaller areas this year.

Fuel has increased twice in the last three days, it has already exceeded 3.30 KM, seed wheat is three times the price of commercial wheat, ranging from 180 to 200 KM. We sold ours for 65, meaning we have to give 300 kilos to get 100 kilos now – states farmer Goran Spasojević.
Milk increases by 2 feninga per month, and fuel by 2-3 feninga every day. Now let someone ask themselves how many liters of milk I need to cultivate that hectare. Simply put, we are left to ourselves – explains farmer Radisav Ilić.
The Association of Farmers of the villages of Semberija and Majevica points out that due to enormous costs and the damage caused by the drought, this autumn sowing will be one of the most difficult.

We have to fight for ourselves, for our families and everything else. You see that autumn sowing is imminent, the most expensive in Europe, in the world, especially here. How we will survive this, I don't know, winter is coming, it's imminent, people are in a difficult financial situation. It is difficult to survive honestly and legitimately – says the president of the Association, Savo Bakajlić, writes BHRT.

The Association of Farmers has announced that they will also request the dismissal of the management of the Agricultural Fund in Bijeljina due to dissatisfaction with their work and attitude towards farmers.
