Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) arrested a person identified as A.O. (1968) this morning in the Bihać area on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of human trafficking, reports the Patria News Agency.
SIPA members searched the facility used by the said person with the aim of finding objects and traces that could serve as evidence in further proceedings. The said activities were carried out under the orders of the Court of BiH and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, SIPA announced.
Investigative actions established that A.O. had "bought" the victim of human trafficking and then held her in a state of slavery for a period of more than two years, and using force and other forms of coercion, forced her to beg daily and bring him the money obtained in this way, exposing her to daily physical, psychological, and sexual violence.
The victim is an adult female with a mild intellectual disability, and she is currently being adequately cared for.
In the previous period, SIPA submitted a Report on the Committed Criminal Offense and Perpetrators to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH against several individuals in this case, and investigative actions established illegal activities of the suspects.
The arrested person will be brought to SIPA's official premises where criminal processing will be carried out, after which they will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for further proceedings, and SIPA continues further activities in this case until its conclusion.
