Strait of Hormuz closed again!

(Patria) - The military command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement today, April 18, claiming that control over the Strait of Hormuz has now "returned to its previous state" due to the US's continuous blockade of Iranian ports.

In a statement quoted by Iranian broadcaster IRIB, the IRGC command stated that the United States "continues with piracy and maritime theft under the guise of a so-called blockade".

For this reason, control over the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state, and this strategic waterway is now under the strict management and control of the armed forces - it is stated, adding:

Until the United States restores full freedom of navigation for vessels traveling from Iran to their destinations and back, the status of the Strait of Hormuz will remain strictly controlled and in its previous state.

Let us remind you that after weeks of tensions and serious disruptions to global maritime traffic, Iran announced yesterday that passage through the Strait of Hormuz is completely open again for commercial vessels – but exclusively during the current ceasefire related to conflicts in the region, including Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said yesterday that all merchant vessels will be able to use this strategically key route, in coordination with Iranian authorities and pre-defined corridors determined by the state Ports and Maritime Organization.
