Will the Independent Board finally dismiss Zubac: Appellate Panel confirms earlier verdict

The Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH rejected the appeal of Goran Zubac's defense as unfounded and confirmed the first-instance verdict of the Court of BiH, by which Zubac was sentenced to a conditional prison term of one year, which will not be executed unless he commits a new criminal offense within two years from the date the verdict becomes final.  

This information was confirmed to the Patria News Agency by the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

- We received the official document and both the Prosecutor's Office's and the defense's appeals were rejected. This makes the verdict final - stated Boris Grubešić, spokesperson for the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

In March of this year, the Court of BiH found Zubac guilty because he refused to provide support to other police agencies during the February protests last year, when, among other things, the Presidency of BiH building was set on fire. As reported by media in the RS, lawyer Dragiša Jokić announced an appeal to the Constitutional Court of BiH, but is aware that after the verdict becomes final, the Independent Board can propose to the Council of Ministers of BiH to dismiss Goran Zubac from the position of SIPA director.  

We also tried to contact the president of the Independent Board, Žika Krunić, to ask him if he would schedule a session of the IB to consider the dismissal of the convicted SIPA director, but he did not respond to our numerous calls.
