Will the election of heads in three state police agencies be on hold like in the case of FUP?

(Patria) - The election of directors and deputy directors in three state police agencies is still on hold, although the Independent Board of the BiH Parliament on July 19 completed its part of the job, and the ranking lists were forwarded to the BiH Minister of Security, Selma Cikotić, who will delegate the appointment proposal to the Council of Ministers of BiH.

The mandates of the Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies (DKPT), two deputies, the Director of the Border Police of BiH and a deputy, and the Deputy Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) expired at the end of May.

They will perform their duties until the Council of Ministers of BiH appoints new directors and deputies.

Mirsad Đelilović (employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton) and Ensad Korman, current Deputy Director of the FUP and candidate for director of that agency, have been proposed for the position of DKPT Director.

For the positions of DKPT Deputy Directors (one from the Croat people, the other from the Serb people), Đuro Knežević and Goran Amidžić have been proposed; the third is Dragan Kulić, the fourth is Ranko Vuković, and the fifth is Ivica Bošnjak.

Robert Perić is ranked first for the position of Director of the Border Police of BiH, and Mirko Kuprešaković is second. Fahrudin Halač and Amra Aljić have been proposed for the position of Deputy Director of the Border Police. Zoran Galić is ranked first for the position of Deputy Director of SIPA, and Vladimir Popović is ranked second.

Although it seemed that there was an agreement for the appointment of the heads of the three state police agencies, it is heard in the corridors that everything could end up like the election of the FUP director, where the director has not been appointed for three years and after two competitions. A new attempt to appoint the FUP director is underway, but the Government of the Federation of BiH has not yet scheduled a session.

The appointment of directors and deputies was not on the agenda of the Council of Ministers of BiH session held on July 28, and a new session has not yet been announced.

Annual leave is also underway, so it is possible that a new session will not be held until the end of this month. Whether appointments and rotations of police chiefs in state agencies will take place then is something no one can guarantee at the moment, considering the political situation and tensions that prevail, and on the eve of the official election campaign.
