Will there be support in the BiH Parliament: Border Police Union seeks correction of coefficients for salary calculation

The President of the Border Police Union of BiH, Dragan Krvavac, presented the Union's stance regarding the request of the Union of Police Bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the correction of coefficients for a fair salary calculation and believes that these corrections are necessary to comply with the established principles of the Law on Salaries and Allowances in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Patria reports.

The same stance was previously sent by the SIPA Union. Minister of Security Dragan Mektić, as well as other representatives of political entities with whom discussions have been held on several occasions, have supported this request from the Union of Police Bodies.

During these discussions with representatives of political entities, representatives of the Union of Police Bodies, which represents the Border Police Union of BiH, the SIPA Union, and the Union of the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies, received confirmation that the requests for coefficient correction are justified and that the coefficients applied for calculating the salaries of police officers are discriminatory compared to other employees in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Employees of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as members of SIPA, have repeatedly proven that they can combat the most serious forms of crime and that, in every respect, employees of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina perform their duties and tasks professionally and responsibly.

The Border Police Union is asking Minister Mektić to use his authority within the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina so that the Council of Ministers accepts the Union's proposals and includes them in the Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Salaries and Allowances of Employees in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Border Police Union also calls on all ministers in the Council of Ministers to be guided by expertise, not by the opinions of individuals who are not aware of the dangers and responsibilities involved in performing the duties carried out by police officers.

Furthermore, the Border Police Union of BiH, as well as the Union of Police Bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, calls on the deputies of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to support the proposals for the correction of coefficients for police officers and thus eliminate the long-standing discrimination in the calculation of salaries for police officers.

The Proposal for the Law on Salaries in BiH Institutions will be on the agenda of the House of Representatives of the PS BiH session.
