Urgent clarification of the latest murders in Prijedor

Thousands of martyr tombstones across Bosnia and Herzegovina are a guarantee that we will never forget their sacrifice. However, we must all try harder to ensure that their ideals and hopes for our freedom are not betrayed, stated Dr. Mustafa Cerić, an independent candidate for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the occasion of Martyr's Day, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Martyr's Day, according to him, is a time when we remember with dignity and in a humane way the best among us who laid down their lives in the foundations of the state in which we live today.

- There is no doubt that Bosniaks know how to appreciate their martyrs and will never let their deeds be forgotten. What we fear is that responsible Bosniak representatives will falter at the "green table" in the fight for the life they envisioned and that the fighters from the front lines, and especially those who lost their lives or body parts in that struggle, hoped for. I want to take this opportunity to express my full support to all those who still carry the spirit of that struggle in their hearts and to tell them that they are not alone, just as the martyrs lying in cemeteries across our beautiful homeland are not alone today - emphasized Dr. Cerić.

He also expressed his satisfaction that Bosniaks have shown breadth and solidarity, and that the first day of Eid passed in mutual respect and recognition, regardless of what sometimes seem like insurmountable differences.

- Eid is a holiday for all Bosniak Muslims in which we show maturity, and I am sincerely glad that we did so again this Eid in a dignified manner. However, our joy was disturbed by the murder of two Bosniaks in Trnopolje near Prijedor. We are outraged by the fact that the frequent crimes and murders of returnees in the smaller entity are not being resolved, and the police and local authorities are not taking measures, so the returnees do not feel safe. We strongly demand that this and all previous murders be urgently clarified, and that Bosniaks in the smaller entity be guaranteed security - points out Dr. Cerić, adding that regardless of the still unexplained circumstances of the recent events, it is necessary to send a message to Bosniaks that they are not alone, since every Bosniak is responsible for another Bosniak, wherever they may be and live, reports Patria.
