Thousands leave eastern Rafah after Israeli airstrikes

(Patria) - The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced that thousands of people are leaving the eastern part of the city of Rafah, following Israeli airstrikes on the area, which the Israeli army had requested to be evacuated several hours earlier.

Israeli army called on Palestinians in eastern Rafah to evacuate immediately

(Patria) - The Israeli army issued an urgent evacuation order on Monday morning to Palestinian residents and displaced persons in several areas of eastern Rafah, calling on them to immediately move to the city of al-Mawasi.

- The number of people moving from the eastern areas to western Rafah is significant, especially since the intensification of bombing, thousands of people are leaving their homes - Osama al-Kahlout, spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent, told AFP.

The White House announced today that US President Joe Biden will speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the announced offensive on Rafah, which is opposed by the US, as well as numerous other countries.

Negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas on a ceasefire in the war in Gaza are expected to continue today in Cairo, with mediators.

Over the weekend, both sides remained at their starting points in the negotiations - Hamas is seeking a permanent ceasefire, while Israel seeks the complete destruction of Hamas.
