Commissioner Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein stated at the opening of the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva that 450,000 people are trapped in besieged cities in Syria, some of them for years, and that the delivery of food, medicine, and other humanitarian aid is often obstructed.
During his address in Geneva, Al Hussein said that thousands of people in Syria could die of hunger. He stated that at least ten hospitals and other medical facilities have been destroyed or damaged in air strikes in Syria, according to foreign media reports.
