(Patria) - The Iranian-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah announced that its greatest enemy, Israel, is on the "path to collapse and fragmentation," referring to divisions in Israeli society due to the controversial judicial reform, Reuters reported.
The Israeli parliament ratified the first bill of the reform sought by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, after negotiations on a compromise with the opposition failed.
"Today is, in particular, the worst day in the history of the entity, as some of its people say," said Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in a televised speech, referring to Israel.
"This is what puts it on the path to collapse, fragmentation, and disappearance, God willing," he added.
The crisis in Israel has caused deep divisions in society and penetrated the army, with protest leaders saying thousands of volunteer reservists will not report for duty if the government continues with its plans, while former top brass warn that Israel's war readiness could be compromised.
Shia Hezbollah has fought numerous conflicts with Israel since its founding in 1982.
