Hezbollah: Israeli attacks on Yemen herald 'new, dangerous phase'

(Patria) - The Lebanese group Hezbollah said that Saturday's Israeli strikes on its Yemeni allies, the Houthis, marked a dangerous turn after nine months of war in Gaza, agencies reported.

"The foolish step taken by the Zionist enemy heralds a new, dangerous phase of a very important confrontation across the entire region," the statement from the Iran-backed group said.

Israeli fighter jets struck Houthi military targets in the area of the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah.

Israel launched the attacks on Yemen a day after a drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthis struck the Israeli economic hub of Tel Aviv. Israel and Hezbollah have been exchanging cross-border fire since Hezbollah opened a "support front" for Palestinians, after Hamas attacked southern Israeli border communities on October 7, sparking the war in Gaza.
