Herzegovina in flames again, firefighters battling numerous fires

Members of the Professional Fire Brigade are currently engaged in containing a fire in Žitomislić, reports the Patria agency.

Fires at the former Odeon discotheque (Heineken in) behind the Herceg Stjepan Kosača Hall, where waste was burning, and in Podveležje, where grass and low vegetation were burning, were extinguished during the night.

In the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton area, 13 fires were registered in the past 24 hours, the Operations Center of the Civil Protection of HNK announced.

Firefighters are also on the ground in the area of Čapljina municipality, on Jasenica hill, where forest and low vegetation are burning.

On Thursday afternoon, a fire was also extinguished at the Pijesci site, where assistance arrived from the Professional Fire Brigade of Mostar.

Among other things, Mostar firefighters extinguished a fire in the wider city area that broke out in Kralja Tvrtka Street, where waste was set on fire in an abandoned building.

Fires were also registered in the areas of the municipalities of Čitluk, Neum and Prozor, where grass and low vegetation mostly burned, while near the Rama HPP reservoir, forest also burned.
