Helicopter of the Armed Forces of BiH successfully carried out a rescue operation of a mountaineer from Prenj mountain

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the request of the Operational-Communication Center - 112 (OKC-112) of the BiH Ministry of Security, and in accordance with prescribed procedures, two Czech citizens were transported today by a helicopter for emergency medical evacuation of the Armed Forces of BiH (MEDEVAK) from the Prenj mountain area to the Health Center in Konjic.

The injured were found at an altitude of 1950 meters in critical condition. Although the terrain was inaccessible and the weather conditions were difficult with winds over 20 knots, the crew of the 2nd Helicopter Squadron reacted promptly and professionally, demonstrating knowledge and expertise in responding to situations where human lives are endangered, the BiH Ministry of Defense announced.

The helicopter crew landed on a rock by touching only one (right) ski and evacuated the injured female mountaineers. This is a very complex landing technique and requires an extremely high degree of crew coordination and commendable flying skills.

This is another in a series of successful MEDEVAK operations where the AF BiH, as many times before, saved a life with their engagement, even when air intervention was the only way to save the most valuable thing - human life.

The Armed Forces of BiH will continue to be on constant standby, within their available capacities and resources, to provide assistance to civil authorities in BiH upon request and in emergency situations, thereby making their full contribution to the execution of legally prescribed tasks.
