AF BiH helicopter extinguishing fire in Trebinje

The operational duty officer of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH received a request from the OKC 112 BiH to engage a helicopter in extinguishing a fire in the municipality of Trebinje, i.e. in the village of Trebijovi, Leotar mountain. By order of the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH for Operations, a Mi-8 MTV 2 helicopter with its crew from the Helicopter Squadron of the Air Force and Air Defence was engaged from 07:25 to 10:30 this morning, the AF BiH announced, reports the Patria News Agency.

The helicopter was engaged in extinguishing the fire in the immediate vicinity of SKČ Leotar itself, and on the southern slopes of Leotar. It made 18 sorties, dropping about 40,000 liters of water, and consumed 2.9 hours of resources.

The helicopter will continue to extinguish the fire in the afternoon.

The Trebinje Territorial Firefighting Unit, the Voluntary Firefighting Society (DVD), and members of the Civil Protection and employees of the Karst Management Centre are engaged in further activities to extinguish smaller and residual fires.
