HDZ: The guarantee of cantonal stability is the transfer from the FBiH budget

(Patria) - The President of HDZ BiH and the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Dragan Čović, held a video meeting today with mayors and city mayors of HDZ BiH.

Economic topics were discussed, aid to the economy through appropriate measures, and experiences were exchanged regarding the current situation with the coronavirus, the impact of the pandemic on healthcare, as well as the measures and activities undertaken to suppress and prevent the coronavirus.

Higher levels of government must also be involved in mitigating the negative economic consequences, it was emphasized. The guarantor of stability for lower levels of government, cantons, cities, and municipalities, is the transfer from the federal budget, which must be significant in this situation to help the economy in an acceptable way.

"Through coordination, we are agreeing on how to create an atmosphere for assistance that we want to direct effectively in order to recover economically as soon as possible and maintain the social dimension. Cantons, cities, and municipalities must be included in the overall process and the transfer from the Government of the Federation of BiH; we are working intensively on this and will make key decisions through parliamentary action at the state and federal levels that will provide sufficient assistance to address budget problems in municipalities and cities," Čović pointed out.

Discussing the holding of Local Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was concluded that all legally prescribed procedures must be respected for this, whether it concerns postponing or holding the elections.
