HDZ 1990 dissatisfied with Karadžić's verdict: In a sea of shed tears, 40 years is nothing

The International Court in The Hague, conceived as an institution for prosecuting crimes, delivering justice, and building reconciliation, has failed all legal and moral tests, and has turned our gaze to the rearview mirror and awakened the ghosts of the past – stated HDZ 1990, after the Hague Tribunal read out the verdict against Radovan Karadžić yesterday, reports Patria.

Radovan Karadžić was sentenced to 40 years in prison on 10 counts of the indictment, while acquitted on one count.

- Bestial crimes, genocide, killings, terror, persecution, and deportation... In a sea of shed tears, a meager 40 years is shameful, insufficient, and unjust – stated the HDZ 1990 press release.

- Karadžić's monstrous doctrine, for example, laid the foundation for Republika Srpska on ethnic cleansing and the persecution of 200,000 Croats, the burning of their centuries-old hearths, and the destruction of the historical and cultural heritage of a nation.

And what do these 40 years of hotel accommodation represent today in relation to the persecution of 200,000 people?

Mathematically speaking, Karadžić received a sentence of 1 hour and 45 minutes for the expulsion of one Croat. To destroy a human destiny and receive a sentence of less than two hours is paradoxical and sends a message that crime pays off.

In the sea of shed tears of the mothers of Srebrenica, who are still searching for the remains of their sons, 40 years, when converted into human destinies, melts into a sentence of two days of imprisonment per life taken.

Most absurdly, these are only two of the ten counts of the indictment for which Radovan Karadžić was convicted.

Therefore, we are obliged to point out that justice is both slow and unattainable this time.

Parallel to the pronouncement of the shameful verdict against Radovan Karadžić, the persecution of the Croatian population continues. The methods are the same – "Radovan's" methods, only this time of a legal nature; the crimes in Trusina, Uzdol, Grabovica, Central Bosnia, Posavina are being eroded by the tooth of time – the HDZ 1990 statement further states, reports NAP.
