Harris pressures Trump to release his medical records

(Patria) - Kamala Harris (59) has released her medical records, concluding she is "in excellent health" and fit for the presidency. After the release, she accused Donald Trump of a lack of transparency for not releasing his medical records, the BBC reported.

The Vice President also claimed that her Republican rival "does not want the American people to see whether he is fit to be president or not".

Without disclosing Trump's medical records, the campaign responded by quoting his doctor, who said he was in "perfect and excellent health." The campaign stated that he has an "extremely busy and active campaign schedule" and claims that Harris "does not have the stamina of President Trump".

This follows the White House releasing a medical report stating that Harris "possesses the physical and mental resilience" necessary to perform the duties of president.

Dr. Joshua Simmons, a US Army colonel who has been her doctor for over three years, wrote that her last check-up in April was "uneventful," adding that she maintains a healthy and active lifestyle. He also noted that Harris has a family history of colon cancer, suffers from allergies, and must adhere to recommended preventive care, including colonoscopies and annual mammograms.

After releasing her medical records, Kamala Harris's campaign spokesperson said on social media: "Your turn, Donald Trump".

Ahead of a campaign event in North Carolina, Harris also sought to cast doubt on her rival's mental sharpness and how he "goes off on tangents".

Democrats are attacking the age and mental health of the 78-year-old Trump, after Republicans made similar criticisms of President Joe Biden before he withdrew from the race.

If re-elected president in November, Trump would finish his term as the oldest president in US history at 82, the same age Biden will be when he leaves office in January.

In response to pressure from the Harris campaign, Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung said that he had "voluntarily released" updates from his personal physician and the one who treated him after the assassination attempt on him this summer in Butler, Pennsylvania.

"Everyone concluded that he is in perfect and excellent health to be commander-in-chief," Cheung added.

He also cited medical findings from November 2023, stating that Trump's "physical examinations were within normal limits and his cognitive examinations were exceptional".

National polls show Harris slightly ahead of Trump, but they are very close in "swing states".
