(Patria) - Croatian police arrested Vukovar-Srijem County Governor Damir Dekanić this morning in connection with a traffic accident he was involved in last year before Easter. Three police officers were also detained with him.
The police operation began this morning at 6 AM in the area of Vukovar-Srijem County. The arrests, as reported by Croatian media, are related to the traffic accident in which Dekanić was involved before Easter last year near Cerna.
The investigation is being conducted by PNUSKOK, and besides Dekanić, the shift leader on duty at the time, the policewoman who secured the accident scene, and the police officer who conducted the investigation have also been arrested.
Searches of the apartments and offices of all those arrested in this morning's operation are still ongoing. It is not yet known where they will be taken for questioning.
