Arrests in several BiH cities for betting scams

(Patria) - Six people suspected of fraud, extortion, and money laundering have been arrested in a police operation, which also included searches at six locations in Trebinje, Čapljina, Mostar, and Foča.

The Trebinje Police Administration announced that in yesterday's "Iks bon" operation, individuals with the initials B.H, M.Z, I.Ć, S.B, N.Š. and M.M. were arrested.

The statement states that individuals B.H. from Mostar and M.Z. from Trebinje are suspected of obtaining unlawful property benefits for themselves or others by presenting false facts through social networks, in connection with sports match results and by issuing threats.

"In this way, they misled the victims into paying them 'Iks bon' multiple times to their names or to the names of individuals S.P, I.Ć, S.B, N.Š. and M.M.", the statement reads.

Individuals B.H. and M.Z. are suspected of the criminal offenses of fraud, extortion, and money laundering, and individuals with the initials S.P, I.Ć, S.B, N.Š. and M.M. for money laundering.

Police searched six locations, two each in Trebinje and Čapljina, and one each in Mostar and Foča, and seized 11 mobile phones of various brands, a laptop, a tablet, multiple SIM cards, two memory cards, and four bank cards, and other items that will serve as evidence in the investigation.

The operation was carried out by members of the Trebinje Police Administration and the Unit for High-Tech Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska under the supervision of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Trebinje, and members of the Foča Police Administration and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton also participated.
