More than 10,000 people are demonstrating on the streets of the German city of Frankfurt due to the opening of the European Central Bank headquarters in that city, reports the BH news agency Patria.
Police announced that 350 people were arrested after the demonstrations escalated into violence in the early morning hours. More than 90 police officers were injured when demonstrators threw stones and poured paint on them.
Several cars were set on fire across the city, and police cars were also burning. German firefighters appealed to the demonstrators to stop the arson.
Demonstrators placed a banner reading "Death to capitalism" near the newly opened ECB.
