(Patria) - Hamdija Abdić Tiger has been acquitted in the appellate proceedings for the murder of Vlado Šantić.
Namely, in the case of the accused Abdić Hamdija Tiger and others, which charged the crime of qualified murder committed to the detriment of Vlado Šantić, HVO General, by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of USC, the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina rendered an appellate verdict by which it rejected the Prosecutor's appeal against the first-instance verdict of the Cantonal Court in Bihać, by which the accused Abdić Hamdija Tiger and others were acquitted of the charges.
This has put an end to the process that attempted to tarnish the struggle of the 5th Corps of the Army of RBiH and the entire population of the Bihać District in the public eye.
When asked to comment on the verdict, Alen Nakić, a lawyer from Sarajevo who, along with lawyer Džem Hadžiomeragić, defended the accused Abdić, stated that this was the only expected outcome for him from the very beginning, and that the verdict of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina only confirmed what was completely obvious from the very beginning.
Furthermore, Nakić emphasized, the rendered verdict proves that there is an independent judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which resisted the pressures exerted from executive positions, specifically from the former Minister of Justice of BiH Josip Grubeša, and violated the human rights of Abdić Hamdija Tiger.
