Hamas claims it has not received Trump's ceasefire plan for Gaza

(Patria) - Hamas has not received a ceasefire plan for Gaza from US President Donald Trump, the Palestinian group that governs the enclave announced on Saturday, Reuters reported.

The comments came after the Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted sources as saying that Hamas had agreed in principle to release all Israeli hostages it holds in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops according to Trump's plan.

The proposal also included an end to Hamas's rule in Gaza and Israeli consent not to annex the territory and expel the Palestinians living there, Haaretz reported.

"No plan has been presented to Hamas," a Hamas official, who asked to remain anonymous, told Reuters.

In his comments to reporters on Friday, in which he said "we seem to have a deal on Gaza," Trump did not offer details about its content or provide a timeline. Israel has not yet publicly responded to Trump's comments.

Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, who leads a far-right ruling coalition that opposes ending the war in Gaza until Hamas is destroyed.

Trump also said on Friday that talks on Gaza with Middle Eastern countries are intense and will continue as long as necessary.

His special envoy Steve Witkoff said that the US President presented proposals to leaders of several Muslim-majority countries this week, which include a 21-point Middle East peace plan.
