GAZA, (Patria) - Saudi Arabia has condemned the decision of US President Donald Trump's administration to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
This is one of the rare condemnations of the US and President Trump from this kingdom, which is expected to help the White House achieve its Middle East peace plan.
However, Saudi Arabia announced today that it had already warned against Trump's move and continues to express deep regret over the US administration's decision, calling it "unjustified and irresponsible."
The Kingdom, and especially the powerful Crown Prince, has close ties with Trump and his son-in-law and advisor Jared Kushner. US embassies across the Middle East and parts of Africa have meanwhile warned US citizens of possible protests against Trump's decision.
Palestinian Islamist and extremist Hamas called today for a new uprising, an intifada against Israel over the recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli.
- We should call for and work towards launching a new intifada in the face of the Zionist enemy - said Hamas's top leader Ismail Haniya in the city of Gaza, assessing that the Palestinian issue is at a critical crossroads for Arab and Islamic countries.
He described Trump's announcement as the end of one political period and the beginning of a new chapter in Palestinian politics.
