Hamas approves list of 34 hostages for exchange in truce deal

(Patria) - Palestinian Hamas has approved a list of 34 hostages for exchange within a potential ceasefire agreement, a group official told Reuters.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official reiterated that any agreement depends on reaching a deal on Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and a permanent ceasefire.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated yesterday that Hamas has not, "to this moment," provided a list of hostages' names.

A new attempt to reach a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas and release Israeli hostages from Gaza is on the horizon, before the newly elected US President Donald Trump takes office on January 20th.

Israeli negotiators were sent on Friday to continue talks in Doha with Qatari and Egyptian mediators, while the administration of outgoing US President Joe Biden, which plays a role in mediation, urged Hamas to agree to the deal.

Hamas has said it is committed to reaching an agreement as soon as possible, but it is unknown how close the two sides have come to an agreement.

At least 14 Palestinians were killed in three separate Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on Sunday, bringing the death toll over the weekend to 102, Palestinian health officials said.
