(Patria) - The spokesperson for Hamas's armed wing said on Sunday that its fighters captured Israeli soldiers during fighting in Jabalya in northern Gaza on Saturday, and the Israeli army denied the claim, Reuters reported.
The spokesperson for Hamas's armed wing did not say how many soldiers were abducted.
"Our fighters lured the Zionist forces into an ambush inside a tunnel... The fighters withdrew after leaving all the forces dead, wounded, and captured," said Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for the Al Qassam Brigades, in a recorded message broadcast by Al Jazeera early Sunday.
The Israeli army rejected the claim by Hamas's armed wing after midnight. "The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) clarifies that there was no incident in which a soldier was abducted," they stated.
Hamas released a video that appears to show a bloody person being dragged on the ground in a tunnel and photos of military equipment and a rifle.
