Hadžović: BiH is firmly committed to fighting terrorism

BiH has been on the side of the coalition for the fight against terrorism since 2001, and this stance was confirmed this year, said Denis Hadžović, Secretary General of the Center for Security Studies, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Although the US State Department has placed Nusret Imamović from BiH (who is in Syria), the leader of the Wahhabi movement from Gornja Maoča, on the list of the ten biggest world terrorists, and a video has appeared in which BiH citizens are on the side of the Islamic State (ISIL), Hadžović is convinced that nothing will be disrupted in the relations between BiH and the USA.

- According to some data, members from 74 countries are in the forces of the Islamic State (ISIL), and BiH is one of those countries, along with England, France, Austria, and the region – says Hadžović, adding that the BiH authorities have clear provisions against terrorism, all forms of radicalism, and contributions to international peace and stability.

He also cited the latest example that shows the relationship between BiH and the USA, which is the awarding of a certificate to the BiH Armed Forces Peace Support Operations Training Center (Full capability for conducting training). The US military attaché, Brig. Gen. Scott Miller, addressed the attendees. Incidentally, this is the first training center in Europe to receive this certificate. The certificate was awarded on behalf of the Global Peace Operations Initiative under the US Department of State by the Director of the Office of Plans and Initiatives, Michael L. Smith.

- Today we heard from US officials that they are very satisfied and grateful to BiH for contributing to international peace and stability through participation in peacekeeping missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Like any country, BiH is also working to reduce all forms of radicalism and extremism to the minimum possible – emphasizes Hadžović.
