Hadžibajrić: Despite sabotage and a dirty election campaign, 2016 was a successful year

Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, along with the President of the Municipal Council Jusuf Pušina, deputies Irfan Čengić and Sanel Dragolovčanin, and advisor Nermin Pećanac, summarized 2016 and announced future projects, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

Hadžibajrić emphasized in his address to journalists that this year was successful, but difficult, considering it was an election year and that they had to contend with sabotage and obstructions from opponents. 

He pointed out that in the past eight years, the Municipality of Stari Grad has invested 60 million KM in various infrastructure projects, and several major projects are planned for 2017.

Hadžibajrić presented some of the most significant projects in 2016, highlighting the construction of the sports hall at the Primary School "Mula Mustafa Bašeskija" as the top priority, with a value exceeding 711,000 KM. The opening of the hall is scheduled for mid-January.

Furthermore, with the opening of the building at Baruthana, this municipality no longer has internally displaced families.

The municipality has implemented numerous projects, including street asphalt paving, water supply network construction, landslide remediation, scholarships, children's playground construction, retaining walls... The Municipality allocated 260,000 KM solely for scholarships. 

As Pušina stated, the intention is for this convocation of the Municipal Council to be the best in Bosnia and Herzegovina and for everything done to be for the benefit of the citizens.

Pećanac said that this is the only municipality that has introduced video surveillance in all primary and secondary schools, thereby increasing the safety of children. The plan is to cover all entrances and exits to and from the Municipality of Stari Grad with video surveillance.

It was emphasized that this municipality has the best-equipped and most professional Civil Protection.

Hadžibajrić also stated that after more than 17 years, the problem of the dilapidated former Feroelektro building has been resolved, and reiterated that the Municipality earned about three million KM from the sale of this land.

- I am often asked why a hotel has not yet been built. We are no longer the owners of this land, but Fatih Kol is. The problem is that the investor cannot obtain a permit for access to the future hotel, and some issues related to traffic need to be resolved. We have spoken with the relevant ministry, and I believe a solution will be found - explained Hadžibajrić.
