Hadžibajrić: We are fighting the coronavirus from health and economic aspects

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The mayor of Stari Grad municipality and commander of the Civil Protection Staff of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, also addressed today's press conference at the KS Government. He briefly presented the activities undertaken by the municipality in the fight against the coronavirus. As he pointed out, this fight is divided into health and economic aspects.

"After this, when all this is over, we will have a more difficult situation, unemployment, social benefits. From a health perspective, the municipality has approved 28,000 KM to procure protective equipment for the Stari Grad Health Center. With DVD Vratnik, street cleaning, washing, and disinfection have been organized. We cooperate with the National Kitchen, where meals are delivered to the homes of citizens who cannot go out," said Hadžibajrić.

He said that the municipality banned citizens from entering the municipality on March 9.

"Then we declared a state of emergency in the municipality because I saw what was being prepared, and the municipality was at the forefront, not only when it comes to local communities, so we preempted the situation. The municipality also helped economic entities for March, so we reduced rents by 50 percent, and for April, we completely exempted them from paying for municipal premises and using public areas," said Hadžibajrić.

He emphasized that financial aid was distributed to the most vulnerable citizens, and food packages were personally delivered to their addresses on two occasions.

"We will strive to be at the service of the citizens, and I ask them not to go out unnecessarily in the next two weeks and to maintain social distance," concluded Hadžibajrić.

KS Minister of Economy Draško Jeličić said that incentives for agricultural production will be increased, and there will be certain facilitations for all those who want to use the spring sowing period.
