Guterres on Ramadan: Let's bridge divides, offer hope to those suffering

(Patria) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent a message on the occasion of the upcoming month of Ramadan, a month of fasting and spiritual cleansing for Muslims.

"For Muslims around the world, the holy month of Ramadan is a sacred period of reflection and prayer. It also represents a noble vision of hope and peace. In these divided times, let's heed Ramadan’s enduring message to bridge divides, deliver help and hope to those who are suffering, and protect the rights and dignity of all".

He recalled Muslims in Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan, and Gaza suffering from wars, conflicts, hunger, displacement, and discrimination.

He sent a message of peace and reminded that he joins the Muslim community in fasting every year.
