(Patria) - United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that the situation of Palestinian civilians trapped in the Israeli blockade and attacks in the northern Gaza Strip is unbearable.
According to a written statement from the spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric, UN chief Guterres stated that he was "shocked" by the scale of destruction in northern Gaza.
Guterres emphasized that Israel has rejected efforts to deliver humanitarian aid, and that the lives of many people are in danger.
Highlighting that the delay in the polio vaccination campaign in the region endangers the lives of thousands of children, Guterres warned that Israeli attacks on the northern Gaza Strip have made the living conditions of the Palestinian population there unsustainable.
The devastation & deprivation resulting from Israel’s military operations in North Gaza are making the conditions of life untenable for the Palestinian population there.
This conflict continues to be waged with little regard for the requirements of international humanitarian…— António Guterres (@antonioguterres) October 27, 2024
