Through joint action of customs officers at the Bijeljina Customs Post and officers from the Enforcement Department of the Tuzla Regional Center, various textile goods valued at 50,000 BAM were temporarily seized, the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH announced, reports the Patria News Agency.
On a truck with Bosnian and Herzegovinian license plates, which entered Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Republic of Serbia at the Rača Border Crossing, a larger quantity of textile goods, which was attempted to be smuggled into Bosnia and Herzegovina, was found in the packaging on the truck.
Namely, during a detailed inspection of the freight motor vehicle at the Bijeljina Customs Post, within the cardboard packaging, officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority found 26 bales of various textile goods that were not declared for import customs clearance, but were attempted to be smuggled into the customs territory of BiH.
All activities in the field were jointly carried out by customs officers at the Bijeljina Customs Post and officers from the Enforcement Department – Smuggling Prevention Group from the ITA Regional Center in Tuzla. Given that this act constitutes a criminal offense, authorized ITA officers contacted the duty prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office to take further measures for the prosecution of those responsible, the statement said.
