City Council Adopts Decision on Salaries and Allowances, Mayor's Salary Around 3,000 KM

The City Council of Sarajevo adopted the Decision on Salaries and Allowances in the Organs of the City of Sarajevo at today's session, which is harmonized with the federal level, writes the BH news agency Patria.

Although the proposed draft intended for the mayor to have a coefficient of 10, this did not happen, and it will be 9, with his salary being around 3,100 KM. The coefficient for the President of the City Council will be 8.5 (instead of 9.5), and his salary will be around 2,600 KM.

The deputies of the mayor and the president will have a coefficient of 8 instead of 9, and their salary will be around 2,500 KM.

Otherwise, from February 2, an order was in effect suspending salaries, allowances, and all monetary benefits for civil servants, employees, trainees, volunteers, as well as elected and appointed officials in employment and councilors, issued by Mayor Ivo Komšić because the city regulation on salaries and allowances was not harmonized with the provisions of the Federal Law on Salaries and Allowances.

The non-adoption of the harmonized city regulation was also the subject of an inspection by the budget inspector of the Ministry of Finance of KS, Dževad Paradžik, in November 2015, who ordered the City of Sarajevo to align the coefficients for salary calculation for employees in government bodies with the federal level.

With the adopted Decision, all employees will have their salaries increased, but their allowances will be reduced or harmonized. Thus, the meal allowance will be reduced from 16 to 8 KM.

The proposed base is 315 KM and is the same for everyone, which was not the case before.
