Mayor Skaka in Belgrade: Cooperation in Tourism, Economy, and Culture Agreed

A delegation from the City of Sarajevo, led by Mayor Abdulah Skaka, is on an official visit to Belgrade at the invitation of Mayor Siniša Mali. This is the first official visit of the head of the City of Sarajevo to the Serbian capital, which was not only protocolary but also of a working nature.

Mayors Skaka and Mali have reached a series of conclusions aimed at improving relations between the two cities in the fields of tourism, economy, culture, sports, and youth for the upcoming period.

Among other things, while discussing EYOF, Belgrade officials expressed their readiness to support one of the most significant sporting events in this part of Europe, which will be held in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo in 2019. The signing of an agreement between Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, and Belgrade on cooperation for the EYOF project through youth exchange has been announced.

Given that Sarajevo and Belgrade are becoming the most desirable and visited European tourist destinations, the mayors also agreed on a joint approach towards tourists from Europe and the world, especially from China.

Regarding culture, the guest appearances of the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra in Belgrade and the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra in Sarajevo were agreed upon, as well as more frequent visits by theatre companies from the two cities. Special emphasis during the talks was placed on activities aimed at providing opportunities for young people. In this regard, Skaka invited representatives of the City of Belgrade to attend the Second Regional Innovation Forum "Sarajevo Unlimited 2017", which will be held next week, an invitation that Mali gladly accepted.

Experiences in applying public-private partnerships in urban development were also exchanged.

Finally, Skaka warmly thanked them for the reception and invited the Mayor of Belgrade to visit the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
