Mayor Karić: An attack on any Sarajevo family's home is an attack on my home

(Patria) - Benjamina Karić, the Mayor of Sarajevo, addressed the storm of reactions caused by her yesterday's reaction or statement regarding scandalous writings directed at a Catholic family in Sarajevo on Facebook.

"Never, under no circumstances, and by no means do I wish to relativize this heinous act of attacking a Sarajevo family's home, especially during their most sacred and joyous holidays.

I emphasize that my intention was by no means to justify or relativize the attack on my fellow citizens in any way through the chauvinistic outbursts of Zoran Milanović, and any attempt to present me as such I consider extremely malicious.

On the contrary, my intention was to point out the danger that inflammatory rhetoric carries, the spiral of evil that harsh words can set in motion and which looms over our country.

Not to diminish or relativize the attack on my fellow citizens, but to warn that inflammatory rhetoric throughout the country and the region must be stopped immediately, before the situation gets out of control and before the problem reaches everyone's doorstep.
