Citizens of Old Town can now contact the First Police Administration via Viber

SARAJevo, (Patria) - In order to improve communication between the citizens of the municipality of Old Town and members of the First Police Administration of Old Town, a Viber number has been operational since today, through which citizens can send messages to the police. You can send messages to the First Police Administration of Old Town via Viber number 060 30 44 329.

This is the result of an agreement reached at a meeting between the citizens of this municipality and the mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, the head of the First PU Safet Šabović, commander Bensar Efendić, and the head of the Criminal Investigation Department Mirsad Hodžić, last month. Discussing the security situation in the narrower Old Town core, and after artisans, caterers, shop owners, and lessees of business premises in Baščaršija submitted a request asking for improved security in Baščaršija due to serious problems they are facing with migrants, two solutions were proposed and both have been implemented.

“At the meeting, we agreed that the First PU will, in addition to the emergency number 122, receive information, reports, and photos from citizens via Viber in the future, and the Municipality has provided everything necessary for the realization of this idea,” said Hadžibajrić. The police will assess and review the received messages, photos, and reports on an urgent basis and act accordingly.

“We proposed to the First PU that a police vehicle and patrol be present daily at Baščaršija Square, in front of the mosque, to be able to act immediately in case of need, and this has been implemented immediately,” said Hadžibajrić.

As confirmed by the head of the First PU, Safet Šabović, the results are already visible on the ground.

“We have noticed a decrease in the number of criminal offenses in the narrower core since our vehicle and patrol have been present daily at Baščaršija Square, and the information we have from citizens and businessmen confirms this. The initiation of communication via Viber will contribute even more to this. I call on citizens to report everything via messages that can help improve security and reduce the number of criminal offenses,” said Šabović.
