Citizens demand Dodik spend referendum money on purchasing Air Tractors for firefighting

The fire in Trebinje, which has been raging for several days, has sparked a wave of criticism on social media, directed against Milorad Dodik and the government of this BiH entity, Patria reports.

While the government spends money on organizing a referendum in the RS, in which citizens will declare whether they support January 9 being celebrated as the Day of the RS, this entity in BiH does not have a single Air Tractor or firefighting plane for extinguishing fires.

It is estimated that the referendum could cost the citizens of the RS just over three million KM.

The President of the National Assembly of the RS, Nedeljko Čubrilović, confirmed that estimates of how much money from the RS budget will have to be set aside for these activities were made already when the referendum was proposed.

A few years ago, Croatia purchased modern Air Tractors at a price of around five million KM. That price includes training and spare parts for the aircraft. Citizens in BiH criticize how the authorities have no money for aircraft that would extinguish fires, while simultaneously spending money on a referendum that will bring no one any good.

- The fire in Trebinje is spreading in multiple directions, and Dodik is still talking about the referendum, because he won't allow the Republika Srpska to be rendered meaningless! - wrote well-known Banja Luka analyst Srđan Puhalo in a humorous tone on his Twitter profile, Patria reports.
