CITY BLOCKED Workers of Krivaja demand dismissal of police chief in Zavidovići

Workers of Krivaje Mobel from Zavidovići are demanding the dismissal of the head of the Police Administration in Zavidovići, Vedad Šečić, after the police allowed a truck with materials to be taken out of the company Krivaje Mobel. The workers do not know what is in that truck, Patria reports.

More than 700 workers of Krivaja are demanding that nothing be taken out of the company until the dispute between them and the recent owner of this company is resolved... They now warn that the police have not provided them with property protection. The police claim they do not have the authority to do so...

The once renowned company Krivaja was privatized by a partnership group made up of several smaller companies. Since they failed to meet their contractual obligations, the Municipal Court in Zenica recommended that the contract between the partnership group and Krivaja be terminated. The workers are also demanding the annulment of the contract and the sale of the company to a new owner. On the other hand, the partnership group does not accept such a proposal.

More than 400 workers of Krivaje Mobel have been blocking intersections in Zavidovići since this morning. The city is almost paralyzed. Four checkpoints have been set up at all major intersections in the city. Workers are only letting emergency vehicles through. If the authorities do not resolve their problem by Monday, they warn that their families will also take to the streets.

Besim Hasić, one of the representatives of the workers of Krivaje Mobel, told Patria that the workers are determined to end the agony they have been in for several months. Hasić said that more than 700 workers have nothing to lose. The company's management owes them wages and has not been paying their contributions, pension, and health insurance for several months. All they want now is to protect the property from looting, and then hand Krivaja over to a new investor, Patria reports.
