Anniversary of the Markale Massacre: 67 Citizens Killed, 142 Wounded

On the occasion of February 5, the Day of Remembrance for all citizens of Sarajevo killed in the period from 1992 to 1995, and the 22nd anniversary of the suffering of Sarajevo citizens at the Markale market, a commemorative session will be held and flowers will be laid on Friday, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

A joint commemorative session of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, the Sarajevo City Council, and municipal councils from the area of Sarajevo Canton (Stari Grad, Centar, Novo Sarajevo, Novi Grad, Ilidža, Vogošća, Ilijaš, Trnovo, Hadžići) will be held at the National Theatre tomorrow (February 5, 2016) at 10:30 AM.

Following the commemorative session at 11:30 AM, a ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial at the Sarajevo Markale market and paying respects to the killed citizens will be held. Representatives from all levels of government will lay flowers.

Twenty-two years ago, 67 citizens of Sarajevo were killed, and 142 were seriously and lightly wounded by an aggressor's shell at the Sarajevo Markale market.
