ANNIVERSARY OF THE FORMATION OF THE LUKA CAMP Earthly hell for Bosniaks of Brčko, they were tortured, killed, and their bodies thrown into the Sava River

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The 31st anniversary of the crimes in the Luka camp, one of the most infamous during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was formed on May 7, 1992, was marked in Brčko, and this date is also marked as the Day of Detainees of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The harrowing footage from Luka went around the world, and under pressure from the international public, the camp was closed in August of the same year. According to data from the Association of Detainees in BiH, around 3,000 people, mostly Bosniaks, were subjected to torture by the Army of Republika Srpska during this period, and more than 100 detainees were killed, whose bodies were thrown into the Sava River.

According to the Report of Tadeusz Mazowiecki on the state of human rights in the territory of former Yugoslavia, members of the VRS killed between 2,000 and 3,000 civilians of Brčko, mostly Bosniak men, women, and children, in the Luka camp during May and June 1992.

The most brutal executioner in the Luka camp, Goran Jelisic, known as Adolf, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

A witness to those crimes says: "I remember, it was Sunday, May 10. On that day, they brought lambs, kids, and alcohol stolen from shops. They ate and drank all day. They entered the hangar twice. The first time they entered, they counted from one to three, with the first and third leaving, and the second staying, and the second time they came, they took out every third person. All who came out were killed. They then selected two to remove the bodies, then they would kill them too, then two more - and killed again. They repeated this for three nights in a row.
